SWP calculator
A systematic withdrawal plan (SWP) takes a fixed amount out of a mutual fund every month while the rest stays invested. Move the sliders to see how long the money lasts and what is left.
The return is an assumption, not a promise: fund values go up and down. Monthly rate = yearly return ÷ 12; each month's return is added, then the withdrawal is taken. Tax and exit load are not included.

How an SWP works
Each month the fund sells enough units to pay you the withdrawal amount. The units that stay invested keep earning (or losing) with the market. If the fund grows faster than you withdraw, the value left keeps rising; if you withdraw more than it earns, the corpus runs down and this calculator shows when it reaches zero. Use the CAGR calculator to see the yearly growth of a fund you already hold.
Frequently asked questions
It works out how a lump sum in a mutual fund changes when you take out a fixed amount every month: the total withdrawn, the value left and whether the money runs out within the period.
Each month the assumed return (yearly rate ÷ 12) is added to the balance and then the withdrawal is taken out. This repeats for every month of the period, and the withdrawal can rise by a set percentage each year.
Only the capital gain part of each withdrawal is taxed. Equity fund gains are taxed at 20% (held up to 12 months) or 12.5% (above 12 months, after the ₹1.25 lakh yearly exemption).
No. Mutual fund returns change with the market. The rate in the calculator is an assumption to see how the plan behaves, not a forecast.
