What FII and DII figures mean
FII (or FPI) are foreign institutional investors: overseas funds, banks and insurers investing in Indian shares. DII are domestic institutions: Indian mutual funds, insurers, banks and pension funds. Each evening NSE publishes how much each group bought and sold in the cash market that day. Net is buying minus selling: a positive number means the group bought more than it sold.
The figures are provisional and cover the cash (equity) market only, not futures and options. They describe what happened; they do not show which way prices will move next.
