How F&O expiry works

NIFTY options currently have a weekly expiry on Tuesday. Monthly index and stock contracts expire on the last Tuesday of the month. If that day is a market holiday, expiry moves to the previous trading day.

On expiry day, open contracts are settled at the official closing price of the underlying. Options that finish out of the money expire worthless. Read what happens on expiry day, and see the full NSE holiday list.
